Detroit’s beloved Downtown Hoedown has moved location this year. The 30th 99.5 WYCD Downtown Hoedown will be on the grounds of Comerica Park, June 8th, 9th, and 10th, instead of hart Plaza due to outgrowing the venue. As many know unless you got to hart Plaza incredibly early and didn’t leave your seats you couldn’t see the show.
Many fans are upset over the move and the fact that it is no longer a free concert. There were a limited number of weekend passes for only $30, but those were sold out in less than an hour. The admission is $20 per day. Although free is everyone’s choice, $20 bucks a day is still cheap entertainment. The Hoedown in the past was well worth $20.
Some of the scheduled artists are Thomas Rhett, Craig Campbell, Kip Moore, Jerrod Niemann, Chris Young, and Miranda Lambert.
An exciting new addition to the Hoedown this year is the local bands who perform will be determined by fan voting this year. Submit your band here. The deadline is April 15th, 2012.
If you are looking for a free and cheaper alternative try the Avenue Block Party in Wayne, MI, May 19th & 20th for a free 2 day outdoor country concert series. You can’t beat the admission fee and the beer will certainly be cheaper. Catch both events as they aren’t on the same weekend.
